Ilene Maurer understands the intersection of people and process

Whether she is helping to develop the manufacturing workforce of the future in Greater Richmond or crafting stories to help large companies navigate change, Ilene brings 30+ years of practical insights to every project.

After retiring from Philip Morris USA in 2023, Ilene thought she was tying a bow on her career, which included one husband, two kids, five homes, two degrees, one certification, four companies and 39 years. But her story continues as a consultant with Rhudy & Co., where her business insights and problem-solving mindset wows clients every day.

Originally from New Jersey (and still a “Jersey girl” at heart), Ilene has a BA and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She started her career in information systems (IS) and worked for 3M Datatrak Systems, General Chemical Corporation and American Cyanamid Company (now Pfizer) before joining Philip Morris USA in 1995.

Philip Morris brought her and her family to Richmond in 2003. After working in various IS roles, she spent 18 years working in manufacturing training, communications and workforce development. She is passionate about the future of manufacturing and currently chairs Virginia’s Capital Region Workforce Development Board.

She lives in Midlothian with her husband. Outside her next act as a consultant, she enjoys traveling the world, keeping up with Richmond’s vibrant food scene, and spending time with her two grown children.
