• Do you work with clients on a project or retainer basis?

We do both. We begin each client relationship with an interview where we ask a lot of questions and do a lot of listening. We come back to the client with a recommended approach to working together, which typically involves either: a monthly retainer, project fee or an hourly rate for by-the-hour projects.

• How do you best work with clients?

We work best with clients when they have a defined point of contact for us. Sometimes this person is a manager, executive or even the president of a company. Frequent two-way communication is paramount to our client relationships. Face-to-face meetings, weekly check-ins, phone calls and e-mail all play an important role.

• How long does the planning process take?

That depends on how much planning has already taken place by the client and how much they know about their specific communications challenge. Generally speaking, we conduct planning and research in a matter of weeks and then propose a series of actionable activities in an appropriate timeline.

• Is the planning process essential?

Yes. Some planning must take place for every successful communications endeavor. Sometimes clients come to us with a plan in place, and they want help with implementation. Other times the client knows enough about the challenges faced by his or her company to condense the planning timeline considerably.

• What does accredited in public relations mean?

Being Accredited in Public Relations (APR) means that we have completed an arduous study program and passed a full-day written and oral exam presented by the Public Relations Society of America. This is the only professional certification program for public relations professionals.

• Can you guarantee media placement?

No. Any public relations practitioner who guarantees media placement is out of step with the code of ethics set forth by the Public Relations Society of America. Since media coverage is not paid placement, no one can guarantee coverage. But we do promise to keep you constantly aware of the status of activity on your account, so you can make informed choices about your next steps.
